Q What is my PIN?
Make A Date is a unique site that integrates Web and Telephone dating. Your Password for the Website, known as the PIN, is also used to access your account via your Telephone. All PINs must be 4 digit numbers only. You create your own PIN as part of the registration process.

Q How do I change my Nickname?
A To change your username, log into your account, then go to the Members Area. Click on Edit my Advertisement.

Q How do I create a profile?
A Creating a profile is simple and free. From the home page, click on Register Free. You will be asked to provide some information about yourself and about who you are looking for. After you have submitted this information, Make A Date will review your profile. Once it is approved other members will be able to search and find your profile on the Web and via Telephone. Approval may take as long as 3 days. During this time, although your account will not be able to be seen by other members, you can start to use the site for yourself, running as many searches as you want.

Q How do I change my profile?
A You can change your profile at any time, including your personal information, your search criteria and your online and print advertisements. Login to your account and go to the Members Area. To change your Search Criteria, click on Edit my Search Profile. To change your Web or Print Advertisements, including your Nickname and Catchline, click on Edit my Advertisement. Finally, to change your Personal Details, including your name, address and phone numbers, click on Edit my Personal Details.

Any changes to your Advertisement will need to be approved before you or other members can view them online. Approval may take as much as 3 days.

Q Why do I need a Print Advertisement in my profile?
A Make A Date is a unique dating site that is integrated with newspapers and telephone. This means that your advertisement will be placed in the Personals section of the newspaper as well as appearing online. This means greater visibility for your profile. Users who read your print advertisement in the newspaper can send you a message either online or via telephone. If they use the telephone to leave you a message, this will be converted to text and sent to your online mailbox. Alternatively if you wish to listen to the user's message, you can phone the message retrieval number found in the Members Area and listen directly to your voicemails from other users.

Q Why do I need to record a personal voice greeting?
A Make A Date combines web dating with a voicemail system. You can access your profile even when you are not near a PC simply by dialling into the voicemail system. Other members can listen to your profile and leave you messages through this system as well.

Make A Date will automatically convert the text you have written in the About You and Whom You are Looking for section of your profile to speech. When other users dial in to listen to your advertisement, they will hear this automated recording. However, it is recommended that you record a personal greeting in your own voice.

You are asked to record a voice profile at the conclusion of the initial registration process. If you did not create a voice profile at that time and would now like to do so, click on View Voicemail Numbers in the Members Area. You can use the Retrieval number to record a new voice greeting. Please note that your account must be approved before you can access this number.

Q Do I have to pay to use the service?
A Registering for Make A Date is free of charge. Simply click on Register Free from the home page and provide us the information asked for. Once you have registered you will be able to run searches and find your compatible members. Please note that your profile will have to be approved before other members will be able to view it. Approval can take up to 3 days.

In order to send messages to other members, listen to their voice recordings or receive messages from other members, you will need to become a paid subscriber. Alternatively you can do any of these functions through Make A Date's voicemail system. Telephone numbers for the voicemail system can be found online in the Members Area. Calls to Browse other members cost £1.20 per minute. Calls to Retrieve messages sent to you cost £1.20 per minute.

Q Will other members be able to see my personal details?
A As part of the registration process we ask you to provide us with your name, address, telephone number and email address. This is for internal administrative purposes only. None of these details will ever be shared with other members. The only details that other members can see are your Nickname, Catchline, Print Advertisement and information About Yourself and Whom You Are Looking For. If you have uploaded a photograph this will also be seen by other members.

Q How do I record a personal voice greeting?
A At the end of the registration process you are encouraged to record your personal voice greeting for other members to listen to. However, if you did not record a personal greeting at that time and would like to do so, click on View Voicemail Numbers in the Members Area. You can use the Retrieval number to record your voice greeting. Please note that your account must be approved before you can access this number. Approval may take up to 3 days.

Q Why should I upload a photo?
A Being able to see what a person looks like is important to most members' search process. Profiles with photos can get as much as 8 times as many responses as profiles without photos.

Q What are the guidelines for photos?
A Make A Date operates a professional service for people interested in meeting and dating likeminded people. You may upload as many photos for your account as you would like. However all images uploaded to the account must be approved before they will be viewable online. Make A Date reserves the right to reject any photos that it deems to be offensive or unacceptable.

Once you have uploaded your image and it has been approved, go to the I want to Upload a Photograph section of the Members Area and under Photo Gallery, select the image you want to associate with your account.

Q I have uploaded an image but it isn't viewable with my profile.
A Once you have uploaded an image either by web or by MMS, your image must be approved by the administrators. Approval can take up to 3 days. Before other members can view your photograph, you will need to go to the Upload a Photograph section of the Members Area. Under Photo Gallery, select the image that you want other members to be able to see. Although you can upload multiple photos, only one image can be viewed at a time.

Q How long will it take for my photo to appear?
A Every photo uploaded or sent via MMS must be approved by the Administrators. This process can take as long as 3 days.

Q How do I send in a photo from my mobile phone?
A In addition to uploading a photo from the web, images can also be sent via MMS from your mobile phone. Select the image you want to send on your mobile phone and send as an MMS. Be sure you include your Mailbox Number and PIN as text in the message. You must put a space between the Mailbox Number and the PIN. Send the MMS to 07793666363. If you are unsure how to send an MMS, please consult the user guide for your phone.

When the MMS is received the photo will have to be approved. Approval can take up to 3 days.

Before other members can view your photo online, you will need to go to the Upload a Photograph section of the Members Area. Under Photo Gallery, select the image that you want other members to be able to see. Although you can upload multiple photos, only one image can be viewed at a time.

Q What is the difference between subscribing and being a member?
A If you are a paid subscriber to Make A Date you have full access to all the features of the Make A Date site. In particular, as a subscriber, you can listen to other members' voice greetings online, send messages to compatible members and read messages you have received from other members who wish to contact you.

Alternatively, if you do not wish to pay for a web subscription, you can do all of the functions listed above via Make A Date's unique voice messaging system. Telephone numbers can be found in the Members Area under View Voicemail Numbers. Calls cost from £1.20 per minute.

Q What are the subscription packages and prices?
A It is free to create a profile, record your voice greeting, upload a photo and search for compatible members. However, if you want to listen to other members' voice greetings, send messages to other members or read messages you have received from other members, you must take out a paid subscription. Subscriptions are available as follows:


1 Day: £6.95
5 Days: £9.95
1 Month: £19.95
3 Months: £29.95
6 Months: £39.95
12 Months: £59.95

We require 4 days notice to cancel the rolling subscription agreement, and so would advise particular attention is paid to this when subscribing to the £9.95 for 5 days option

Q My payment was rejected. What should I do?
A There are a number of reasons why the payment might be rejected. You should check the following:

Have you entered your credit or debit card number correctly?

Have you provided your billing address exactly as it appears on the statement.

Has your card expired?

Are you over your credit limit or do you have enough funds to cover the complete amount of the payment?
Have you entered the correct Security Code?

Q What is the Security Code asked for on the payment page?
A The security code is the 3 digit code which appears on the back of your credit or debit card. It is usually printed on the area reserved for signatures.

Q How do I cancel my subscription or membership?
A We are always sorry to see any member go, but hope that it is because you have been lucky in love. Cancellation of your account will completely remove your profile from Make A Date. This means you will no longer be able to access your account and it will not be available for other members to find in a search.

To cancel your account, go to the Members Area and select Cancel My Account.

Q If I cancel my subscription, can I get a refund?
A Refunds of unused subscription fees will only be given where the original subscription is for a period of greater than 6 months and a 30 day notice has been issued. The amount of the refund given will be determined by the number of complete months' membership remaining in the original term of subscription less the 30 days' notice. Any refunds that are given will be paid as a cheque and posted to the address listed on your Account. Refunds are payable only to the member listed on the Account.

Q I registered several profiles but only one appeared - why?
A Ours is a trusted site and all profiles are manually checked before they are released. If the profiles are genuine and from the same person, we will upload the most comprehensive one.

Q When I was at work I tried to call one of the numbers from the advert in the paper, but I couldn't get through. Why?
A Many firms do not allow the use of premium-rated numbers. Try again from your mobile phone or use your home phone.
